About the Artist

Christy Wiggs depicts her love of fine art in her many oil, watercolor and mixed media paintings, which have been exhibited in multiple galleries in Illinois, Florida and Wisconsin. She is an active member of the Geneva Lakes Art Association (Wisconsin) and has participated with the Riverside Arts Center (Illinois) and the Englewood Art Center (Florida).

She enjoys sharing her artistic skills with others and has taught Beginning Oil Painting at the University of Illinois Extension and serves as a Visual Arts Judge for the McHenry County Fair in Illinois.

Wiggs, a Chicago native now resides in Wonder Lake, Illinois and Englewood, Florida with her husband Bob.

She is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago. In 1987 she founded Presentations Plus, Inc., providing her artistic talents to a lengthy list of Fortune 500 Companies in the new digital medium of the day.

Artist’s Statement

My paintings are meant to capture the emotion felt at the first moment I view the subject matter. Colors, shapes and motion are sculpted onto the canvas, wood or paper with more emphasis on feeling that realism. All of my paintings begin monochromatically, and evolve into color. Focus is targeted on unexpected areas—the vein of a flower pedal, the crack in a pot, the folds of a hat. Each painting has it's own personality.

Frequently I am asked “what do you paint”. The answer, simply stated, is what I feel like painting at the moment of inspiration. An unexpected image created by a shadow, an unusual perspective of a common object, or a pristine glow of color caught by a ray of sunshine.

If when viewing my paintings you stop to take a second closer look that stirs your emotion, I’ve achieved my goal.
